KAPIL SESHASAYEE IS A PROTEST MUSICIAN, GUITARIST AND VISUAL ARTIST FROM GLASGOW, SCOTLAND. HIS WORK FUSES CONTEMPORARY R&B, INDIAN CLASSICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL ROCK MUSIC.

Kapil released the follow up to his acclaimed debut - a concept album about the oppression of the Indian caste system featured in Pitchfork, VICE, Rolling Stone India, The Guardian, The New Indian Express, The Quietus, BBC Asian Network, BBC Radio Scotland - on November 18, 2022.

Singles released from his upcoming LP “Laal” have featured at Rolling Stone India, Bandcamp, The Quietus, The Hindu, BBC Radio6 Music, BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Asian Network. The new LP is a concept album about the influence of Bollywood and Indian cinema - platforming conversations around censorship, nationalism and caste which aren’t discussed often in mainstream media circles. Kapil also hopes to celebrate unsung heroes of the Indian film industry with singles from the album such as “The Pink Mirror”.

Kapil has showcased songs from the new album with his live band across SXSW, Wide Days, Canadian Music Week, UEFA EURO 2020, ILMC, Unconvention Manchester, WOMEX and innovative South Asian festival Dialled in. His online performance at Wide Days 2020 caught the attention of internationally renown live agent Steve Zapp who would sign him to his roster with the prestigious International Talent Booking Agency.

Kapil has amassed a number of high profile collaborations and commissions including a rework of a Ravi Shankar composition to commemorate his 100th birthday for BBC Asian Network, a collaborative single with Rap legend LIL B and an interpretation of songs by Ivor Cutler for a performance in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall alongside members of Mogwai and Belle & Sebastian.
